By: Sydney
African slavery was established in West Africa. It is easily assumed that the Europeans were the beginners of slavery, however the Europeans were often assisting the West African slave merchants. Some West African's captured and traded or sold their fellow Africans for wealth and power. Slave trading between the Dutch, Potuguese, Spanish, English, French and West African was often very crowded and very brutal. During 1300-1900 in West Africa, about one third of the poupulation was enslaved.
